Palm Springs circa 1970

When it comes to runway fashions, I always initially oogle over the lines that I'd obviously wear.  They are what always catch my eye first.  For instance, this year's Diane von Furstenberg S/S 2012 line - I would wear every single piece in the collection - much in the same way it's styled.  But as amazing as the DVF collection is, it's not my favorite.  My favorite (thus far) for the Spring/Summer 2012 collections, is hands down Derek Lam.  It evokes a feeling so strong, it's nearly tangible, and I can't help but think I've left 2011 and am lounging poolside, Palm Springs, circa 1970.   Not that this look is retro - it's more timeless and fresh, with hints of a yesteryear.

It's obvious not I, nor the average girl, could pull off this whole look - the strong brows, masculine details, and slicked back hair are more for models like Aggy Deyn, not girls like myself.  But picking up on these details is key, and I'm going to be adding bits and pieces of this line into my every day.  Take a look below.

THE DEETS

Obsessed With -

- Hints of patent leather, like on that trench coat.
- Polished prints, mixed with fluid basics.
- Nude makeup, that's dewy and fresh.
- Umm, those navy pants with the white cuffs! Swooon.

  1. P.S. I'm sure you already know this, but today is Target's launch of Missoni and let me tell you...I majorly failed by not getting there at 8am!! Everything is almost gone in the stores near me so I am waiting for the website to be up and running again! It crashed (go figure). From what I did see though, their stuff is adorable. I was able to snatch up a pair of flats and a dress. I thought I would have a lot to blog about today but now I need to finish my shopping list via online (if I can). I remember you blogging about this months ago so I thought I'd check in! :)
