Oh. Yes.

After much planning my spring break is finally booked.  This post is dedicated to the beach, Coronas, sunshine, and bikinis.   And all the lovies I’m gonna get to share it with. Let the countdown begin!

 

We Went to the Beach to be Beautiful

Summer is officially here!  For us, the next several weeks are going to be spent at lake houses, enjoying the sun, water, and warm weather.  Being that nothing of huge importance is on the agenda, I'm wanting to buy lots of flowy tops and pretty little cover ups.  And so the hunt is on - my Macbook seems to always have no less then three windows open to online  boutiques, and a brand I've fallen in love with (first spotted on Intermix) is Miguelina.  Their clothes are the perfect balance of tropical boho and prep - perfectly appropriate for a day at the country club, but also sexy enough to not be boring.  I adore all the lace, and pops of neon in these photos.  Now the biggest challenge - picking a piece to buy!

Flutter-kini

Summer is rapidly approaching.  My first lake trip is about two weeks away (!), which means I'm all about stocking up on summer wardrobe essentials.  One thing I'm dying to find is a fluttery little bikini like the ones posted below.  I think they're so pretty and add a little extra volume where girls like me (ahem, flat-chested girls that is) need it most.  They're also a nice alternative to the oh-so popular fringed bikini tops we are seeing all over the place.

Back to Life, Back to Reality

Well, my vacation hangover is in full effect.  I'm missing days filled with beach walks, roaming markets, and swimming.  But I'm loving sleeping in my own bed, not drinking all day ;), and eating normal food (hello, salads!).   Below are some pictures of my trip.  It really was the most relaxing, laid back week and  my mind is slowly returning to reality.

I apologize for the lack of depth in my recent blog posts, I really do.  However, I've found that it's best to not force blogging, and instead simply write about (or show) what inspires.  This way entries are honest, and quite personal.  That being said, are you all now completely aware of how badly I'm craving a beach?  Somewhere sunny to do nothing other than lay out and sip on fruity cocktails?  You've gotten that vibe from me?  You understand that the only things I want to be shopping for are string bikinis and cotton sundresses?  Okay, good.  Well, now that we're on the same page, I love the images below.  They're feeding my most recent craving for all things tropical.

The Rum Diary

I like some movies simply because of location and wardrobe.  It's that simple.  The Talented Mr. Ripley was one of them (see post on it here).  And to be honest The Rum Diary was a film I didn't really care to see.  My fiance turned it on while I was busy blogging or pinning (the two go hand in hand, no?)  and about 15 minutes in I was surprised to have found myself completely consumed with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.  And it wasn't that it was particularly great - in fact it was kind of odd.  But it did keep me entertained, and I'm pretty sure it all had to do with Amber Heard's character Chenault.  Her retro style, cinnamon tan, and omni-present red lips were so striking.   It really is the perfect summer or getaway inspiration, and my new goal for my own upcoming vacation  is to find some high-waisted shorts and a bra top as amazing as Chenault's (see second photo down.)
