The Plastics

I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic.

Andy Warhol

The plastic, fake, over-the-top side of fashion.  It's there.  We are reminded every time we open up the pages of Vogue.    It's what runs through our heads when we glance at a model and think, "Just how little does she weigh?" or "Just how much airbrushing was done to get her face *completely* poreless." We can't help it.  We wonder what's real.   How close can the average person actually get to looking that flawless?  Instead of letting such thoughts consume me, I prefer to take in the beauty of it.   The flawless, decadent, unrealistic perfection, it's enough to inspire.  Below are ultra-glam pieces, fit for a Barbie.

Living Doll

Yesterday's post featured a beauty I had almost forgotten about.  Miss Gemma Ward completely captivated me sometime during my college years.  I remember the first time I saw her (or at least really noticed her).  I was getting my hair highlighted (as I did every 4 weeks back then) and was sipping my fresh squeezed limeade and flipping through Harper's Bazaar.  It was then that my jaw dropped.  This other-worldly beauty was acutally a real person?  This wasn't a doll?  Someone's eyes can be that huge?  A face that symmetrical?  And flawless?  I asked my hairdresser Matthew if he's heard of this Gemma Ward character?  He giggled and scolded me for not knowing, "And I thought you read Vogue monthly..."   From then on I took note.  I adored her.  When Heath Ledger passed, and Gemma left the modeling world I cursed her name.  Silly, girl, giving up her amazing career to mourn! (How could she!?)  She did return earlier this year, and I'm hoping we'll be seeing much more of her in the future.  Below is the spread that introduced me this amazingly beautiful model.

...Of Sea & Sky...

Blue is a color that seriously inspires me.  I can't wait to work tons of it into my spring wardrobe.  It's so closely related to nature, it's effortless and captivating all at the same time and the result leaves me in a state of half dreamy enchantment and half refreshing invigoration.  What colors inspire you?
